Sara Casler

Director

Sara is Spanish department chair and program coordinator for Sierra College, a California Community College. She teaches Elementary and Intermediate courses and particularly enjoys helping students develop clear pronunciation as well as explore the varied cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Sara is always on a quest for how to best engage her students and is excited to do this both online and in face-to-face classes.

Sara began studying Spanish as a child and graduated with a double major in Spanish Literature and English Literature from Pacific University in Oregon. While completing her Spanish degree she studied in both Guayaquil, Ecuador and Granada, Spain. She earned her Master’s in Spanish at Miami University of Ohio with a specialization in Spanish Sociolinguistics and completed her thesis research in Granada, Spain. Sara was recently granted a sabbatical during which she translated Simpolicon for the Spanish-speaking world.

Sara has taught as a graduate student at Miami University of Ohio, as an instructor at Pacific University, the University of Nevada Reno, and now at Sierra College. She continues to travel whenever possible, often to Costa Rica where she and her family enjoy cultural exchanges with host families.
